The GBP/USD pair has been on a downtrend in recent trading sessions, with a decline of 0.40% on Thursday. Upcoming UK retail sales and services PMI data are anticipated to further reflect the weakening state of the UK economy. UK retail sales are projected to have grown by 0.5% in August, following a 1.2% decline in July. Additionally, the UK services PMI is expected to drop from 49.5 to 49.2 in September. On the technical front, the GBP/USD remains below the 50-day and 200-day EMAs, signaling a clear bearish stance. If the price continues to stay below 1.2300, there’s potential for further decline towards the key support level at 1.2200.
